Dr. Jain is an agricultural economist and climate policy professional whose work bridges rural livelihoods, environmental markets, and sustainability governance. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Manipal University Jaipur, with academic foundations in commerce and economics from the University of Mumbai and the University of Rajasthan.
Her doctoral research examined income-linked agricultural models and market-based mechanisms for strengthening rural economies, with a particular focus on vetiver cultivation as a pathway for livelihood diversification and value-added production. Her published work - including Financial Competitiveness of Vetiver Crop as Compared to Traditional Crops: An Indian Perspective, Economics of Ecological Restoration: The Role of Medicinal Plants in Slope Stabilization and Soil Recovery, and Optimizing Soil Erosion Control: Evaluating the Profitability and Sustainability of Vetiver-Rice Straw Geotextiles - demonstrates the commercial viability of ecological restoration models and the integration of medicinal and aromatic crops into sustainable value chains.
Dr. Jain’s expertise lies at the intersection of agricultural economics, climate-responsive development, and market-based environmental instruments. Her work advances nature-based solutions, ecosystem restoration economics, and the integration of agriculture into climate finance and carbon market frameworks. She brings a strong grounding in value-chain economics, regulatory interface, and institutional policy engagement.
As Executive Director of the Emissions Trading Association of India (ETAI), Dr. Jain plays a central role in advancing India’s carbon market ecosystem by fostering institutional dialogue, strengthening stakeholder coordination, and contributing to policy engagement aligned with national and international climate commitments. She leads strategic efforts to connect agriculture, carbon governance, and emissions trading systems - positioning rural economies and nature-based solutions within emerging climate market architectures. Her experience complements ETAI’s mission by embedding agricultural economics and community-centered sustainability within India’s evolving emissions trading and carbon market framework.
